The Emirates Group ordered by the Ruler of Dubai to start the Phase II of its project

28/11/2012

Along the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Road, there is a new hotel project that was just visited by the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, yesterday. It is the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel that has a total height of 355 meters which is around 26 meters shorter than the popular tower in New York, Empire State Building; and then surpasses the Rotana’s Rose Rayhaan Hotel that has 333 meter-tall as well as it will have approximately around 1, 600 rooms if once totally completed.

Actually, the aforementioned hotel is set to be completed two years from now or in early 2015. Based on the report, the Ruler has just ordered the Emirates Group, as the owner of the tower, to start the second phase of the project as soon as possible because of the fact that the Emirate’s tourism and hospitality sectors are now continuously growing. In other words, there will be more visitors to come in Dubai that will reach at least 9 million for this year 2012, which is according to the report from Business Monitor International.

As a Ruler of the Emirate who has a vision to maintain the reputation of Dubai as an Economic Hub in the Middle East region after the onset of the crisis, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prior to his visit in the Emirates Group’s hotel project, has already announced the commencement of the construction works for Mohammed Bin Rashid City, a mega project that will be a joint venture between Emaar Properties, a builder of the tallest tower in the world, and Dubai Holding, a Global Investment Holding Company that both develops and manages an extensive portfolio of companies that focus on the following: financial services; investments; real estate; hospitality; specialized business parks; and telecommunications.

Moreover, the main objective of the Ruler for the proposal to increase the hotel stocks in Dubai is due to currently-increasing demand for hotel rooms in particular; or rather it is due to the fact that the Tourism market in the Emirate is now showing a solid growth. For instance, based on the forecast yesterday, the numbers of passengers that came in the Emirate’s main airport have increased to more than 33 million from the previous year until the second quarter of the year.
