Nakheel plans to build more parks and communal green areas in Dubai

04/12/2012

After being separated from a previous parent-company, Dubai Holding, and currently government-owned firm, Nakheel Properties has recently announced its new plan to build more parks and communal green areas in Dubai. Actually, it was just unveiled by the company’s Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, who explained the reason behind such new initiative during the opening of its Al Ittihad Park on Palm Jumeirah as the country was celebrating its 41st National Day.

Due to lots of vacant space in Nakheel’s community developments, the decision has emerged for the company to add more green space to its communities in particular, including the above-mentioned park that has 1.1 million square feet of green areas on which a total of 60 different kind of plants and trees were planted as well as a total of 3.2 km jogging track.

According to Ali Rashid Lootah, he said that Al Ittihad Park is indeed a new or unique venue for all residents who have a desire to be physically fit. What they need to do is just walk, jog, or simply relax in natural, shaded surroundings. In addition, the park will be possibly a new tourist attraction for visitors who want to learn the country’s diverse plant-life.

As this year 2012 is near to end, the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has unveiled another development projects to be built in the Emirate, which is part of his visions. They are as follows: the construction of Mohammed Bin Rashid City which will be located between the Emirates Road, Al Khail Road, and Sheikh Zayed Road; Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens Project that will include particularly residential areas which will be built on the so-called ‘Green Standards’ in terms of energy consumption, waste treatment, and conservation of the natural environment; the biggest shopping mall; Universal Studio-branded Themed Park; and a green space that will be a third bigger than Hyde Park in London if once completed.
