Lake C in JLT is set to be converted into park

19/11/2012

Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), a Waterfront-Community Development that comprises of 87 residential, commercial, and mixed-use towers surrounded by four man-made lakes covering a total of 179, 000 square meters, is currently one of the sought-after locations in Dubai for property investors and companies that entailed consistent increase in occupancy rates.

So far, due to lots of requests from the community, the management of Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre ( DMCC ), a licensing authority for JLT Free Zone that was established in 2002 by the Government of Dubai with an objective to cater the physical, market, and financial infrastructure which are required to those who want to set up a commodities marketplace in the Emirate, together with developers and owners associations (OAs) has decided to convert the Lake C into a 55, 00 square meter-park.

According to Matthew Lomax, Director of Property at DMCC, he announced that the construction works for such new plan will be started in 2013 and will be just completed within 18 months. However, he didn't reveal yet the possible cost for the above-mentioned proposed community park and the contracts as well.

As part of the planned park, there are some facilities to be included. They are as follows: shaded pathways that will connect the various areas of the park; two pedestrian boulevards; picnic areas; children's amenities; exercise areas; open lawn areas; a pedestrian link bridge going to south side of JLT; a lake side plaza; and an access to retail outlets on the promenade.

Now, as residents, they have different reactions such as if the newly-proposed park will be put into reality, it will be good for all accordingly; while some of them commented with regards to the issue of security. Fortunately, the majority of the decision is to let the proposal park to be in reality.
