Green Building Rules planned to be mandatory in 2014

Implementing rules with regards to properties in Dubai is just part of the government’s initiative, such as to make it mandatory to follow the Greenery Campaign or the Green Building Rules & Regulations for all buildings in the Emirate which have been set to be enforced immediately after next year. So far, it has been temporarily optional for all private buildings in the city. It means that it still depends on them either to adopt the campaign or not yet at all.
In fact, the Building Department of Dubai Municipality has already started doing its efforts both in training and educating those involved companies in the field of the following slogan: ‘Be Educated on Green Buildings’.
According to Eng. Yusuf Abdullah, as Acting Director of the Buildings Department, he said that there are a number of activities such as seminars, training courses, publications, exhibitions, advertisements that are targeting those consultants, suppliers, contractors, developers, and manufacturers. They are just designed by the Department in order to let all the subjects be more aware and educated with regards to the above-mentioned campaign in particular. Moreover, in that program, there are also some special activities designed for both public and students as well.
As part of the plan, the Building Department has recently participated in the event called as a ’Middle East Electricity 2013’ in which the latter presented its new green buildings rules and specifications in the Emirate, including the use of some green products. One of them is the Solar Water Heaters which have been already become mandatory in all buildings in Dubai.
