DLD has a plan to establish a Real Estate Arbitration Centre in the Emirate
10/10/2012
Being one of the active entities in the Emirate, Dubai Land Department (DLD) has recently unveiled its plan to have at least a Real Estate Arbitration Centre in Dubai that will possibly help resolve any property disputes between the parties such as landlords, tenants or investors. In fact, its objective is to impartially resolve any disputes concerning with real estate in the Emirate particularly. So the department is about to look for some individuals who are internationally-recognized property arbitrators.
According to Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, he said that the Emirate's property market has become one of the most developed and sophisticated markets due to large number of dealers and clients. Hence, it will be a right initiative to establish such centre in order to settle any real estate disputes both in a fast and smooth manner. Then, he added that having such move would enhance the mutual trust between the concerned parties in the property market as well as would provide legal advice in terms of realty arbitration in particular.
As Director General of Dubai Courts, Ahmed Bin Hazim, he said that DLD';s initiative is a positive one; in a sense that it will resolve any disputes to some extent or in alternative means as well as will provide a quick mechanism to resolve the parties' disputes.
Based on the report from The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveys (RICS), a leading organization in the world for professionals in real estate, construction, and other related issues, it said that the average value of disputes in terms of construction industry in the Middle East has become double from $56.25 million in 2010 to $112.5 million in the previous year. For this reason, RICS has trained and accredited a panel composed of 40 globally-qualified mediators, arbitrators, and adjudicators who will be available to provide some possible solutions for any disputes in the region.
