18/02/2013

A few days ago, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, approved the new Island Project worth of $1.6 billion, which will be located off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence and in which the possible tallest Ferris Wheel in the world will operate. That project is the Bluewaters Island that will be developed by Meraas Holding, a Dubai-based Real Estate Investment Company with a number of operations and assets both regionally and globally.

According to the company, it said that if such project is completed, it will be probably one of the largest tourism hot spots not only in the Gulf Arab region but throughout the world as well. Basically, the center of attraction of the project will be the said stunning Ferris Wheel which will be part of Dubai Eye that will be designed and constructed by primary contractors such as Hyundai Contracting and Starneth Engineering. So, it will help the Emirate to some extent maintain its Tourism Industry that will draw thousands and millions of visitors from different countries annually.

Moreover, the project will consist of different zones such as retail, residential, hospitality, and entertainment; and then it will be connected to the mainland going to Sheikh Zayed Road, a mono rail system between the RTA Metro and Entertainment Zone, a pedestrian bridge to JBR beachfront, and a cable car that will bring the visitors to the Entertainment Piazza which will be located at the base  of the wheel to provide a unique venue for special conferences and occasions as well as a large screen that would create an innovative electronic platform for adverts, broadcasting, and interactive information.

As a Chairman of the company, Abdullah Al Habbai said that Meraas Holding is rest assured for having a key attraction in the UAE, which will further enhance the Emirate’s status as the preferred Global Entertainment and Retail Hub because of the project’s limitless options for smart living and leisure particularly.

In addition, as Head of Research at CBRE Middle East, Mat Green also proved that there has been already the so-called ‘clear momentum’ both in the Emirate’s property market and tourism sector which will continue to be more competitive globally.
