Thousands of new hotel rooms are about to enter the Hospitality Industry in Dubai

26/02/2013

As the Emirate’s economy is now rebounding after the onset of recession in mid-2008, lots of properties are about to enter not only in the property market but also in hospitality industry which has been one of the most reviving sectors in the wake of such economic downturn. In fact, within this first quarter of the year, it is reported that there will be thousands of new hotel rooms to be opened in Dubai.

Most of them are those projects which were stalled before due to negative impacts of crisis that let them stop the construction works. However, fortunately, they are currently being recommenced because of the Emirate’s emerging economic growth in particular.

According to Stephen Flanagan, Director of Professional Services at Knight Frank which is a Global Property Consultancy Company, he said that the Emirate is now getting back to the same levels of activity between 2007 and mid-2008, which is indeed a very positive in a sense of having a growing economy. So far, there has been already an increasing demand for properties on Palm Jumeirah, a largest man-made waterfront project in the UAE; and in Dubai Financial & International Centre (DIFC) which was previously considered the original Business District.

Indeed, the Hilton Hotels and Resorts, an International Chain of Hilton Hotels & Resorts as well as a flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide, is one of the groups having expansion plans to open thousands of new hotel rooms in the UAE within this year 2013. One thousand of them ( 1, 000 ) will be located in Dubai.

Moreover, as Vice-President for Operations in Arabian Peninsula, Essam Abouda believed that as the Emirate’s market has not yet reached the exact level of progress during the boom years, it is quite on the track towards such direction at the moment.

Now, the following hotel projects are those which are now being reconstructed after being stalled in 2008: Sofitel, a project of Al Habtoor Group; Royal Amwaj Hotel; and the proposed projects of Marriot International Company that has a plan to open additional thousands of hotel rooms in the Emirate within two years from now.
