UAE. Once again Dubai made its presence felt at the leading international autumn trade fair for tourism in Russia and CIS held in Moscow's 20,000 square metre 'Crocus Expo' from 25 to 28 September.

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) led the Dubai team to the travel trade show which had 53 participants from Dubai that includes 24 hotels and 25 travel agencies besides Dubai's homegrown festivals of Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises, Ski Dubai and Mall of the Emirates.

Khalifa Ali Buamaim,Director Overseas Promotions, DTCM, expressed a great satisfaction with the result of Dubai's participation in Moscow and he said that once again Dubai delegation has been successful in attracting an increased number of Russian and global attendees who showed a heightened awareness in "everything" Dubai especially its upcoming new projects.

With so much on recommendation Buamaim said, he anticipates a larger number of Russians to visit Dubai in the coming months.

The Department has been successfully promoting Dubai as one of the world's leading international leisure and business destinations, especially in the Russian and CIS markets. Dubai has been generating unprecedented interest in this part of the world, especially the real estate and tourism sectors.

For example, Akar Real Estate a company that is involved in developing, building, leasing, managing and marketing real estate projects in Dubai recently announced the opening of an office in Moscow to deal with the increasing number of Russian investors eyeing long term investment opportunities in the Emirate.

“In the last one year, over 300 Russian investors have bought both commercial and residential properties in Dubai estimated at over AED 700 million (US$ 191 million),” said Sultan bin Hareb Al Falahi, Chief Executive Officer of Akar. “The potential is considerable and while we do have Russian speaking staff in our head office, the purchase of property always follows a great deal of deliberation and it makes sound business sense to have a physical market presence,” he added.

Akar also has marketing offices and representation across Saudi Arabia, Jordan, India, Singapore, the UK, France, Austria and Germany and is involved in the development, design, construction, marketing and management of a network of commercial and residential properties.
